Convert DPI

Understanding DPI

DPI (Dots Per Inch) is a measure of how many dots fit into a linear inch when an image is printed. Higher DPI means more detail and sharper prints.

For web display, DPI doesn't matter — only pixel dimensions affect how an image looks on screen. A 1000×800 pixel image looks the same at 72 DPI and 300 DPI on a monitor.

For printing, DPI determines the physical size. A 3000×2400 pixel image prints at 10"×8" at 300 DPI, but 41.7"×33.3" at 72 DPI.

Tip: Most cameras set images to 72 DPI by default. If you need higher DPI for printing, use our DPI converter to change it.
